ScreenTimer - Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 06 December 2025
Last Updated: 06 December 2025
ScreenTimer (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how ScreenTimer handles data when you use our screen time management application (“the App”).
1. Data Collection
ScreenTimer prioritizes your privacy. We collect minimal, non-personal data to facilitate app functionality and improvement.
- Non-Personal Information: We collect anonymous usage data to understand general user trends. This includes a randomly generated unique identifier (UUID), your device's region, and basic app state information (such as days since install).
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or precise location.
- We do not track your browsing history or access your personal files.
2. How the App Works
ScreenTimer uses Apple’s Screen Time API (FamilyControls and DeviceActivity frameworks) to help you monitor and manage screen usage on your device.
- All calculations relating to your specific screen time limits and usage of other apps are processed locally on your device.
- Your specific app usage history (which apps you use and for how long) never leaves your device unless you choose to back up your device with Apple’s iCloud services.
3. Children’s Privacy
ScreenTimer may be used by parents and guardians to manage children’s device usage.
- All child-related usage data is handled securely by Apple’s Screen Time API.
- We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
- Parents remain in full control of any data displayed or configured through the App.
4. Third-Party Services
We use a limited set of trusted third-party services to improve our App.
- Statsig: We use Statsig for analytics and feature management. We send the following non-personal data to Statsig:
- A randomly generated User ID (UUID) that does not identify you personally.
- Your country/region (based on device settings).
- App usage properties: User Type (e.g., Free vs Pro), Days Since Install, and First Session status.
- If you choose to back up your device to iCloud, Apple’s privacy policy will apply to that backup.
5. Data Security
We are committed to protecting your data.
- The usage data we collect via Statsig is used solely for analytics and product improvement.
- Your detailed screen time activity remains strictly on your device (or your iCloud backup) and is protected by Apple’s iOS security features.
6. Your Rights
Since we do not collect personal information that can be linked to your real-world identity (like name or email), we cannot retrieve or delete data based on such requests. However, you remain in full control of your local data on your device, which you can delete by uninstalling the App.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy if our practices change in the future. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.
